Posting All Eyes on Rafah Slogan, Anies Invites the Public to Support Palestine

JAKARTA– Recently, the slogan 'All Eyes on Rafah' has been widely called upon across various social media platforms. This is a form of support for Palestine following the deadly Israeli air strikes in the city of Rafah.

Anies Baswedan, the Governor of DKI Jakarta for the 2017-2022 period, also voiced his support for the Palestinian people. In a post on his official Instagram account, Anies shared a black-and-white photo captioned 'All Eyes on Rafah'.

“On Friday, May 24, the International Criminal Court ordered Israel to stop all military operations in Rafah,” Anies wrote as quoted Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

However, in recent times, the Israeli military has launched attacks on the city of Rafah, killing civilians including children. According to Anies, Israel has disregarded international law.

“Within 48 hours thereafter, Israel has dropped more than 60 bombs in the refugee camp area in Rafah, which was previously declared a safe zone, and indiscriminately killed dozens and injured hundreds of Palestinians. Israel has completely disregarded international law,” he said.

Currently, he continued, thousands of Palestinians are trapped in Rafah without medical support, safety, and adequate living needs.

This former Minister of Education and Culture invites the Indonesian community to voice support for Palestine.

He also asked the Indonesian people to encourage the government to rally global support to strive for peace in Palestinian lands.

“Let's continue to voice support and provide assistance to Palestine with all our abilities. Let’s also continue to support the government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to rally global support and pressure Israel to stop this brutal genocide right now,” he added.
