Anies Regrets that Residents of Kampung Susun Bayam Are Left in Limbo

JAKARTA– Anies Baswedan stated that he aims to make Jakarta a city with equal opportunities for its citizens, so they can live more prosperously.

After no longer serving as the Governor of Jakarta, he was frequently approached by residents from various places. According to Anies, their visits were to request his candidacy for the Governor again for 2024-2029.

“Almost every day, people come to our place, almost daily from various places and it's always those who are weak and small,” Anies said in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, on Friday, June 14, 2024.

One such issue is the problem with Kampung Susun Bayam. The residential building, which was constructed and inaugurated by Anies while he was still governor in October 2022, has yet to be occupied by residents due to the lack of a residency permit from the current DKI provincial government led by Heru Budi Hartono as the Acting Governor.

“And actually, the keys have already been given out, it's just a matter of finalization, the building is there and they are from there,” he added.

He then questioned why the residents of Kampung Bayam are now in limbo when that is their home.

“The real question is why they have to be in limbo for a year and a half? If we were talking about a second home, maybe there could be a complex process,” he stated.

Therefore, the former Minister of Education and Culture emphasized that he would resolve the issues of Kampung Bayam if elected in the 2024 governor's race.

“But now the choice is to be in limbo, or to stay in a place that has been prepared? In my opinion, this is far from a wise step. This is a main agenda that we must resolve,” he asserted.
