Where Did Anies Perform the Idul Adha Qurban?

JAKARTA– Anies Baswedan participated in distributing sacrificial cows at three locations, namely Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Kuningan, West Java, during this year's Idul Adha.

“So we performed sacrifices in Yogyakarta, Kuningan, and also here at Babul Khoirot, and there are several other places,” Anies told the media at Masjid Babul Khoirot, Lebak Bulus Dalam, South Jakarta, Monday, June 17, 2024.

Additionally, he also distributed sacrificial animals at his residence. He mentioned that he would personally participate in the slaughter at his home.

“Yes, there will be a series of events, we will hand over the sacrificial animals here at Masjid Babul Khoirot,” he said.

However, the former Jakarta Governor did not specify the type of sacrificial animal. Jokingly, he left it to the officials to determine the details.

“The animal is a cow. Well, it will be weighed by the officials,” he joked.

Previously, Anies Baswedan and his family performed the Idul Adha prayer at Masjid Babul Khoirot, Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, Monday, June 17, 2024.

According to KBA News observations, Anies and his family walked to the mosque at 6:24 AM WIB. Anies was seen guiding his mother, Aliyah Rasyid, in a wheelchair.

Anies was accompanied by his wife, Fery Farhati, and their three sons and son-in-law. They wore matching brown outfits: Mikail Azizi Baswedan, Kaisar Hakam Baswedan, Ismail Hakam Baswedan, and Ali Saleh Alhuraiby.

His eldest daughter, Mutiara Baswedan, was not seen attending the Idul Adha prayer.

While walking to the mosque near their residence, Anies chatted with his family, and nearby residents also walked to the mosque.

Upon arriving at the mosque, Anies escorted his mother to the women's section. He then joined the men's section with his sons and son-in-law.

After the prayer, Anies accommodated photo requests from the local residents. He was then seen kissing his mother’s hand and hugging his wife, Fery Farhati Ganis.

Sacrificing By Himself

Reported by the media, the former Jakarta Governor personally slaughtered his family's sacrificial cow at Masjid Babul Khoirot, Lebak Bulus Dalam, South Jakarta, Monday, June 17, 2024.

He mentioned that he participates in the slaughter of his sacrificial cow every year.

“Yes, I didn’t last year because I was on hajj, but in previous years, I usually did it myself here,” Anies said after the slaughter.

He expressed gratitude for the smooth execution of the sacrificial slaughter, hoping that what was intended would be accepted and benefit the community.

“Earlier, I usually did it myself. So thank God, it went smoothly, and hopefully, our intentions will be accepted and beneficial to the community,” he said.

Anies mentioned that his habit of slaughtering his sacrificial animal began in his childhood when his father, Rasyid Baswedan, often took him to watch the slaughter.

“So, this is part of our journey growing up. My father used to do it, and I would usually accompany him. Now, when we get the chance to sacrifice, I continue this tradition,” he explained.

“Hopefully, the children can continue it. Now, they are watching,” he added.
