JAKARTA – Pemuda Pancasila's Secretary-General, Arif Rahman, has called on all cadres to support Anies Baswedan in the 2024 local elections.

Arif reported that they have directly heard from the former Minister of Education and Culture about political parties courting him for the 2024 gubernatorial nomination.

"Let us unite our resolve. Mr. Anies has conveyed that he has started receiving tasks from parties that want Mr. Anies Baswedan to run again for Jakarta's top position," Arif told the media at the Regional Leadership Council (MPW) Secretariat of PP in Pejaten, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

He then urged all PP cadres to support and ensure victory for the former two-term Governor of Jakarta.

Arif conveyed that according to directives from PP General Chairman Japto Soelistyo Soerjosoemarno, PP must fight alongside Anies.

"I hope we all, following the guidance and instructions from our General Chairman that we have the highest respect for our General Chairman Mr. Yapto Soelistyo Soerjosoemarno, convince ourselves that if Mr. Anies Baswedan is tasked for Jakarta, it is our duty to support Pemuda Pancasila cadre, Mr. Anies Rasyid Baswedan," he explained.

He expects the consistency of Pemuda Pancasila cadres in supporting someone they have pledged to support, turning the head into the foot and the foot into the head.

"Let us prove that Pemuda Pancasila cadres are elite cadres in this nation," he added.

Arif emphasized that PP will definitely support Anies because they always prioritize their cadres. He stated that if a PP cadre appears in local elections, it is mandatory to offer support.

"So again, I hope all PP cadres, if at any time Mr. Anies Baswedan is assigned by parties, because Pemuda Pancasila cannot provide support to advance but must support him, that’s definitely what Pemuda Pancasila must do," he said.

It is known that Anies officially became a member of the community organization Pemuda Pancasila in October 2022.

Anies was confirmed as a member by Pemuda Pancasila General Chairman Japto Soelistyo Soerjosumarno following the inauguration of the new MPN Pemuda Pancasila building. Anies received membership number 0000007 and was dubbed the James Bond of Pemuda Pancasila.

As information, the PKB Jakarta Regional Board officially nominated Anies Baswedan as a candidate for governor in the 2024 election.

"With the invocation of bismillahirrahmanirrahim, PKB DKI Jakarta has decided Anies Baswedan to be the sole candidate for governor of Jakarta 2024-2029," said Hasbiallah Ilyas, Chairman of PKB DKI Jakarta, at their office in Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

Hasbi explained that the nomination of Anies Baswedan as the gubernatorial candidate for Jakarta went through a lengthy process.

There are Penalties

Ilyas Abdullah, Chairman of the MPW Pemuda Pancasila DKI Jakarta, affirmed after receiving directives from General Chairman PP Japto Soelistyo Soerjosoemarno that all PP cadres must support Anies Baswedan.

"As the Secretary-General already mentioned, as cadres we are obliged to support our own for any election, whether it's local elections or running for legislative office. That's mandatory. So it's certain," said Ilyas to the media at the MPW Secretariat, Pejaten, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

He stated that there would be sanctions or punishment for PP members who do not unanimously support Anies.

"Then there will indeed be its own punishment," he noted.

"Because that is our motto, to always be united, to always be together," he added.

While Secretary-General PP Arif Rahman stressed that if a PP cadre runs for a government position, they must be supported.

"Certainly, because Mr. Anies is a cadre, if indeed we always prioritize cadres. If there is a Pemuda Pancasila cadre running, then it is obligatory to support them, just like that," Arif stated.

Previously reported, Anies Baswedan also expressed his intention to fight for and realize the values of Pancasila, especially in Jakarta, as previously reported that Anies has now been officially nominated by the PKB Regional Board to run in the 2024 gubernatorial election.

"Some time ago, we fought for justice on a national scale but we know this process is a democratic process that must be respected. And we feel in Jakarta at least Pancasila is felt by its citizens. We want our city to be a city for all, and justice to be present in Jakarta," Anies said.

"We are currently in a phase of being called back to serve in Jakarta, and we will answer with the intention that this city will become a city owned by all and justice present for the people of Jakarta, meaning Pancasila will also live in Jakarta," he concluded.
