Elected Governor Again? These are Priority Issues for Anies Going Forward

JAKARTA – National figure Anies Baswedan stated that if re-elected as the Governor of Jakarta for the term 2024-2029, his most priority work program would be to rectify all aspects that are considered problematic today to make them better.

"The most urgent thing is to rectify the things that are considered problematic today to make them better," said Anies during a meeting in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta, on Friday, June 14, 2024.

He also mentioned having a list of problems that need to be fixed after 1.5 years of not serving as the Governor of Jakarta.

For example, Anies spoke about siding with the weak. To make the weak strong, and the small big, without diminishing the big or weakening the strong. Then, to continue and enhance the things that were already seen as good.

"So that the weak become strong, the small grow big but without diminishing the big, without weakening the strong," he said.

Thus, the people of Jakarta would feel equality of opportunity, so they can live more prosperously. Simple things that seem not much discussed, but are felt. For example, affordable basic needs.

"I used to, when I was governor, every morning what I saw was the price of basic needs in the Central Market, I checked every day. Making sure that the arrow was pointing down, that it was green, meaning it was going down," he explained.

"But if the arrow goes up, it means it is going up. If it goes up every day, then that's a problem. So, affordable and stable prices of basic needs are the main priority," he added.
